On World Meditation Day we had hosted another Flawless workshop at NAMI Palm Beach County. This time our focus was on the power of nervous system regulation. With a full room, open hearts, and expert guidance from trauma-trained somatic coach Jennifer Baez, the session brought together education, movement, and healing in a truly unforgettable way.
Jennifer is a skilled and compassionate facilitator whose presence helped guide the room into a deeper understanding of what’s going on inside our bodies when we experience stress, trauma, or anxiety. We dove deep into how our nervous system is the body’s communication network. It controls and coordinates everything we do, from moving and breathing to thinking and feeling. When the nervous system is dysregulated due to overwhelming stress or trauma, it can deeply impact our ability to connect and show up in the world as our true selves. That’s why learning how to do the work to regulate the nervous system is such an essential part of our long and short term mental health.
Jennifer led us through an interactive workshop that turned knowledge into action. Through chair yoga, breathing exercises, and shaking our bodies free, participants were taught how to reconnect with their bodies in gentle ways. It was a joy watching the “shaking it out” exercise turn into a mini dance party. But underneath the fun we were breaking up physical and emotional tightness through this movement. This calmed our bodies to allow us to transition into focused breathing exercises, where we explored how something as simple as mindful breath can signal to the brain that we are safe. Slower heart rates, lower anxiety, and increased clarity are some of the benefits experienced by the group.
As a yoga teacher, mindfulness educator, Reiki Master, and more, Jennifer’s ability to hold space and meet people where they are made a lasting impact on everyone present. We left the session reminded that regulation is a skill we can all build, and that we’re never too far gone to find stillness and peace within. Whenever you need it, even in public, feel open to claim your healing. Because with every breath we are building more resilience and health on every level.
