Valentine’s Day is one of our favorite days of the year. For us it’s a time to practice self love and kindness towards those who might not be feeling the love. As we have done in years past, we are dedicating Valentine’s Day to Flawless Love. Today with gratitude, we celebrate the work of the people and organizations in our mental health community.
Dr. Alfiee Breland-Noble, AAKOMA Project
Dr. Alfiee Breland-Noble, a pioneering psychologist, scientist, author and media contributor, founded the AAKOMA Project to meet the mental health needs of youth of color. Her work focuses on raising consciousness among individuals, providing accessible tools for ongoing management, and changing systems to receive youth and provide better care. Be Well PBC
Be Well PBC does incredible work in supporting the community to create positive change regarding behavioral health outcomes. Their collective is made up of leaders and partners that are achieving significant change for mental health in Palm Beach County. Thanks to their generous grant, we were able to provide love, hope, and care to hundreds of people in our local community through our Flawless Wellness Workshops and outreach programs.Thank you – We love you Be Well PBC.
Children’s Services Council
We are so grateful for the Children’s Services Council, Palm Beach County for their continued work in serving and supporting children and families across Palm Beach County. We were awarded a grant from Children’s Services Council to create a documentary and online course for high school students. This documentary will include members of our team, athletes and their families, coaches, and mental health experts. The interviews encompass themes of brotherhood, self-care, emotional intelligence, resilience, family, the meaning of Flawless, mental health and wellness.
Greenburger Center for Social and Criminal Justice
The The Greenburger Center for Social and Criminal Justice advocates for reforms to the criminal justice system. We are passionate about their important work to reform the mental health and criminal justice systems and appreciate the opportunity to amplify their advocacy on digital media platforms.
Judge Ginger Lerner – Wren
Judge Wren is a county court Judge in the Criminal Division of the 17th Judicial Circuit, Broward County, Florida. Judge Lerner-Wren is the recipient of countless awards and speaks internationally on the The Mental Health Court, Therapeutic Jurisprudence, Recovery, Mental Illness and the Criminal Justice System, Trauma Informed Problem Solving Justice and Creating Cultural Change. Loveland Foundation
Loveland Foundation is committed to showing up for communities of color in unique and powerful ways. Their resources and initiatives are collaborative and prioritize opportunity, access, validation, and healing. Loveland Foundation works towards the empowerment and liberation of communities of color, with an emphasis on Black women and girls, which they achieve through fellowships, residency programs, listening tours, and more.
Mental Health America of the Palm Beaches
MHA PBC provides community building for people living with mental health challenges with unconditional support and acceptance. The MHA Clubhouses have curated spaces where members “build long-term relationships that help secure employment, education, and housing.” We have been working with the members of their Peer Place Well Being Center for a few years. Our ongoing Flawless wellness workshops with them are something that we always look forward to and treasure.
Rwenshaun Miller, Eustress Inc.
Rwenshaun Miller, a therapist, speaker, and award-winning social entrepreneur, focuses on education and mental health advocacy through his non-profit, Eustress, Inc. As a Black man diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, Rwenshaun uses his experience and training to raise mental health awareness through conversation and activities to end the discrimination associated with mental illness in black and brown communities.
Parkland Cares
The headquarters for the Flawless Foundation is in South Florida very close to where the tragedy in Parkland took place on Valentine’s Day in 2018. On that day, many members of our team were in High School and knew some of the students and families who were affected. Parkland Cares was founded in honor of all those who lost their lives on that unthinkable day. They provide funding and awareness for trauma care and mental health services by awarding grants to local non-profit agencies who offer counseling for those in the South Florida community impacted by trauma.
Project Lift
Project Lift does innovative work with at-risk teens through mental health services paired with vocational training. When we asked our team what their highlights were in 2022, most of them said that facilitating flawless workshops at Project Lift were their favorite moments. The Defensive Line ‘s work focuses on suicide prevention, especially for young people of color, by elevating communication, education and connection about mental health.
