A week after a controversial headline was posted by a local South Carolina newspaper about Hilinski’s Hope, Ryan Hilinski responded with class and stellar play on his way to lead the Gamecocks to a conference win over the Kentucky Wildcats. In the win, Ryan passed for almost 200 yards and helped end a five-game losing streak to the Wildcats. But once again, it’s his actions off the field as much as his play on the field that continues to capture the hearts of college football fans everywhere.
After the game, Ryan shared a moment with his family and then made sure to connect with his fans and supporters. He is seen embracing a group of students who had “Hope Never Sinks” painted across their chest. But not only does he thank them for their support, he asks all of them to come together and leads them in prayer.
And he doesn’t stop there. He then runs around the entire stadium thanking the fans who are still there for being there and supporting him and his team. Even taking off some of his gear to give to younger fans. The look of awe and adoration in their eyes as their favorite player takes the time to talk with them, give them memorabilia, and sign autographs speaks volumes to the impact he is having in this community. You can see this touching moment here.
It is truly inspiring to see how Ryan (at the age of 18) continues to spread so much positive energy. And despite being one of the most talked about subjects in college football, he still remains humble and grateful for everyone by his side. In fact during his prayer he thanks God “for giving me these people. These people who have my back no matter what and I have their back no matter what–on and off the field.” Ryan and the Hilinski family now have a nation behind their back, and this is why it’s so important to continue this movement of love and hope. Hilinski’s Hope will never sink with this unending flawless amount of support to keep them afloat.
