We were so sorry to hear of the death of the talented musician Chris Cornell yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends, and all the many fans around the world who also mourn this loss. We hope that the openness with which his death is being discussed continues — shining the light on suicide goes a long way in giving others who are struggling a sense of being supported and accepted, hopefully making it more likely they will seek help. Late yesterday afternoon, we landed on a Washington, DC Alternative Rock radio station. The host, Josh Klinger, was expressing his shock and sadness over Chris Cornell’s passing and playing many of his songs. We were injected with a jolt of hope and light as he shared a suicide hotline number, encouraging anyone who is having thoughts of suicide or feeling complete despair to call. Through using his voice to spread this message of support and caring, Josh Klinger was exemplifying what we mean when we say that we’re all part of this movement, that we all have a role to play. We all need to take those action steps to become #FlawlessCitizens because reaching out and speaking up can literally save lives.
“Be yourself is all you can do.”
