As an Intern at the Flawless Foundation, I have learned more than I could have ever imagined. Not only have I learned an abundant amount of information concerning brain health, but also communications, professionalism, and essential life-skills. Through this inspiring intern training, I learned how to come back from mistakes, the importance of paying attention to the details, and how to become more effective whether I am assigned an everyday task or at a high-profile event. My confidence has increased in these areas the longer I have worked for Flawless, along with the Foundation’s mission becoming deeply personal and attached to my own life goals and mission. In addition to learning essential lessons for the workplace – I have also been equipped with the tools for my own well-being and finding the passion that lies within me.
My first days at Flawless began in Florida with our founder Janine, where I obtained all of the basic yet necessary skills to become a Communications Intern. From administrative work to assisting with emails and phone calls, I saw first hand how invested the Flawless team truly was concerning their vision, premise, and most importantly – the people. Day-in and day-out they are working to revolutionize the way we perceive brain-based challenges around the globe. From the first day I set foot in that meeting where the seed was planted to nourish Flawless, I knew that I wanted to be a part of their bright light that beamed through the seams of the brain health realm and beyond.
Since that first week working with our founder, I have attended several events such as Aging in Rural America 2018, NatCon18, The Mental Health America Annual Conference, and have visited a variety of wellness centers, facilities, and organizations. Through these events and volunteer programs, I mastered the ways of formatting inspiring speeches into a 280-word count, sharing on social media platforms and reaching out to the world so all could view our message. I have also enhanced my writing skills through writing blogs, captions, reflections, and summaries. The essence of teamwork is always prominent and mandatory for success, supplying me with guidance, assistance, and a smile on my face. Through thick and thin, I could rely on those around me in times of great pressure or to answer a simple question during our lunch break.
Through my journey at Flawless, I have met countless inspiring individuals consisting of advocates, filmmakers, authors, physicians, politicians, corporate leaders, fitness experts, and brain health professionals. Whether I was at a national event or a small book signing, I was taught the skills needed to converse and communicate with leaders in any realm. This has been one of the most important skills that I am grateful to have learned from Flawless – it has opened several doors for me and inevitably changed my life to become the thought-leader I aspire to be.
From the numerous skills and lessons learned, the one skill that has left a lasting mark on my heart is being able to touch others lives through the essential work of the Flawless Foundation. More than ever we are seeing the immediate call for help concerning brain health awareness and treatment – and more than ever we need more people standing up for those who have been ignored and oppressed for far too long. At the Flawless foundation, I know I am taking part in a vision and conversation that is much bigger than I will ever be – I am truly intertwined into the Foundation’s incredible mission to envision a society where every person is understood and embraced as “Flawless.” I am incredibly blessed to be here – and I cannot wait for what the future holds!
