My experience at my school for Random Acts of Kindness Day was extremely inspiring. Throughout the day my fellow ambassadors and I felt the love that a random act of kindness can bring. Our main purpose was to spread positivity to high school students by using the Flawless message and simple acts of kindness. It’s safe to say that Walt Whitman High School was looking FLAWLESS, with ambassadors decked out in Flawless shirts, backpacks, and tattoos. Even though Valentine’s Day came to an end, there was no need to stop spreading the love that week!
As a high school senior, I can confidently say that high school can be challenging for everyone. There are many pressures circulating about family, school, money, friendships, and the future. Not only that, but Long Island, New York has been very icy and cloudy for the last few months, and it’s difficult to spend time outside and go out with friends and family. Many students face seasonal depression because of this and fall into unmotivated slumps. This is why I was confident that random acts of kindness day needed to be celebrated through Flawless at my school.
My fellow “Natural Helpers” and I spent the day distributing positive, YOU ARE FLAWLESS Post-it notes and Flawless temporary tattoos. Not only did I have the pleasure of leaving and handing out notes, but I also came across notes written by others in classrooms, the bathroom, and cafeterias, and they truly warmed my heart. The notes allowed us to spread positivity, however it was also a wonderful outlet of creativity for many Natural Helpers. Tattoos were distributed among every grade and not one student was hesitant to join in. Seeing a smile on my peer’s faces was truly rewarding and I am so grateful I had the opportunity to spread random acts of kindness throughout my high school.
This experience has reminded me that any act of kindness, no matter the size, can brighten someone’s day. You never know what someone might be going through and we all have the chance to touch someone’s life and brighten their day, no matter how small the gesture. Kindness is contagious so let’s spread it!
