Flawless thanks to our intern, Brooke Schmidt, who wrote up this blog for us after being the Co-Chair for our Nirvana event in NYC. Check out the details below, and a great snapshot of Brooke and her friend, Liv, helping out. They looked – dare we say – Flawless!
On Wednesday, July 20th, an intimate group of about thirty friends gathered in New York City at the chic Indian restaurant, Nirvana, to enjoy the restaurant’s “culinary bliss” and celebrate the Flawless Foundation. From the delectable Indian cuisine, to belly dancers, to an inspiring talk by our founder, to an exciting raffle, the night was certainly one to remember.
Upon checking in, guests were offered the chance to buy raffle tickets for some great prizes. Thank you to our corporate donors for their gifts – Alice Hair , Nirvana, Indigo Handloom, and Gratitude Designs. Most guests scooped up tickets by bunches of 3, and the raffle was a huge success! Also, a huge thank you to Jennifer and David Ford of the Ocean Rain Foundation for being the generous wine sponsor that night.
While guests dined on the delicious Indian cuisine, wellness-coach-by-day-and-belly-dancer-by-night, Jena Laflamme slithered around the tables to a Middle Eastern beat. Jena was not the only attraction, however, as guests were greeted by another belly dancer, Jennifer Bowen at the after-party in the downstairs bar. She scattered flowers as she danced and shimmied throughout the bar, dinner-goers laughing and tapping their feet along, the braver among them actually joining in on the dance floor.
At one point in the evening, guests put down their forks to listen to the Flawless Foundation’s founder, Janine Francolini, express her gratitude for their support. Additionally, Janine spoke of Flawless’ recent inspirational story about Laurie Feathers’ Birthday Wish, Laurie, who is a mother to a son who has bipolar and lives with bipolar disorder herself, dedicated her birthday wish to raising money for the Flawless Foundation after being inspired by the work the foundation does. Nirvana guests were so moved by her story that some even donated to her Birthday Wish afterwards. Flawless continues to be grateful to Laurie for being such an enthusiastic fan of the Foundation, and for standing so strong with love for the cause.
By the night’s end it was clear that the event was a huge success! Great food, great friends, great company, great dancing and a great cause! Talk about Nirvana!
A great big Flawless thank you to Alex Harris at Society’s Choice for attending and taking pictures. And thank you Alex so much for sharing the event, and our cause, with your 25,000 Facebook fans!
